For
the topping:
- One-third cup of baking mix (like Bisquick®)
- Two-third cup of brown sugar
- Four tablespoons of unsalted butter, sliced
- Half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Directions to Make This Bisquick Coffee Cake
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius, or 400 degrees Fahrenheit. A 9-inch square baking dish should be greased.
- Get the cake ready: In a bowl, mix the baking mix, milk, egg, sugar, and cinnamon until thoroughly blended; transfer to the bottom of the baking dish that has been prepared.
- Preparing the topping: Using a fork or pastry blender, combine the baking mix, brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon in a separate bowl and mix until crumbly. After evenly sprinkling the batter, make a crisscrossing pattern with the butter knife.
- Bake for about 25 minutes in a preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Tips: If you
prefer, you can substitute water for the milk. You can also use an 8-inch
square baking dish for this.
